Instilling in young girls that they are worthy and valuable and supporting their access to the opportunities they deserve.
“Years of having my opinions and intellect dismissed, knowing I had to work twice as hard to get half as far, hearing 'law is a man’s field so deal with it,' even being told 'women generally aren’t that bright, but you’re an exception' have driven me to form this organization. Every time society tells our girls they can’t, we believe someone should be there to counteract that message ten-fold. Unlimited RI will be that someone.”
-Lindsay C. Speicher, Founder and President
Unlimited RI is a nonprofit organization aiming to empower and uplift young women by nourishing all their dreams, however far-reaching, and providing the tools and connections to achieve them. We will partner middle and high school aged girls with young female professionals in an effort to foster a sense of community and sisterhood as well as provide girls with the experience, connections, and guidance necessary to achieve success. Through these partnerships, our girls will learn the ins and outs of different career paths as well as insight into the journey to accomplishment.
Studies show that by age 6, girls are already less likely than boys to believe they have the potential to be brilliant. Time and time again, society sends messages to girls that they are not as smart or as capable as their male counterparts. As girls grow, they internalize these messages and shape their identities around these perceived realities. Professions such as attorneys, medical practitioners, computer scientists, software developers, engineers, and architects are overwhelmingly dominated by men. We want to encourage and uplift girls to believe they are able to achieve greatness they may have once believed was reserved for boys.
